Authtrail token (AUT) is the platform’s native utility token and it’s used to purchase anchor credits.

One anchor credit is needed to anchor data to the blockchain. Anchor credits are not utility tokens and can only be acquired by exchanging AUT tokens. The number of AUT tokens required to purchase an anchor credit depends on the market price of the AUT token in USD and the current price of one anchor credit in USD.

With an intuitive and clean user interface, the Authtrail platform packs the complexity of the blockchain-based data management mechanisms in a robust data integrity service. To ensure data’s authenticity and protect it from unauthorized or unrecorded changes, Authtrail relies on blockchain technology (distributed ledger technology or DLT) and a data hashing mechanism.

With Authtrail, every original data entry is converted to a hash (fingerprint), a unique string of characters, created through a mathematical function to identify particular data.

Multiple hashes form a Merkle tree of linked data, and the complete set of hashed data entries is then registered onto the distributed network of nodes or blockchain. Linking a hash to the original data entry is essential for proving data integrity.

Blockchain technology protects data and guarantees its authenticity and immutability in two ways:

• Cryptographically: Data gets sealed through a cryptographic data hashing mechanism. Authtrail uses the publicly available SHA-256 hashing algorithm.
• Structurally: Blockchain is immutable by design and once data is inscribed onto a data block and confirmed by the network of ledgers, it cannot be changed or deleted. This provides a permanent record of data entry.

The genesis version of Authtrail was built on Ethereum, but thanks to a lowered barrier to entry on the Moonbeam Network, Authtrail now leverages Moonbeam’s higher efficiency and lower transaction costs.

With Moonbeam, Authtrail further takes advantage of on-chain governance, staking, and cross-chain integrations. Serving as a parachain on Polkadot, Moonbeam also benefits from its shared security and interoperability. Applications built within this framework are fast, user-friendly, and come with the low transaction fees of their native chains.

In terms of scalability, Moonbeam relies on the PoS (proof of stake) instead of the PoW (proof of work) mechanism, as well as the Substrate development framework, which improves the scalability of the native Ethereum execution environment.

Despite relying on the Moonbeam Network as the main blockchain layer, the Authtrail platform is blockchain-agnostic by design. Thanks to various blockchain connectors, the platform can implement different types of blockchain networks, even private ones, to anchor the data root hashes.

Authtrail Validator is an open-source tool developed by Authtrail that allows for a manual check of data integrity via Authtrail API.

A scan across the complete hash structure gives insight into data validity and anchoring of data entries and their metadata, relying entirely on underlying technology without the interference of a third party.

 

Authtrail provides an end-to-end solution for adding and verifying enterprise data integrity. While the complete Authtrail Dashboard is available to clients only, Authtrail Demo is a publicly accessible web application that allows anyone to test Authtrail’s core functionalities:

1. Adding integrity to enterprise data and documentation through data hashing and anchoring on the blockchain
2. Checking the integrity of data through verification against blockchain records – automatically or manually on the Moonbeam network

With Authtrail Demo, anyone can test Authtrail’s functionalities from the perspective of an enterprise client (adding integrity and protecting data) as well as that of an end-user, business partner, client, or regulator that wants to inspect and verify the integrity and accuracy of data.

The Authtrail Demo code is open-source and freely available on GitHub.

The Authtrail Platform is deployed and offered as a SaaS service. Therefore, it is crucial to make integration with customer applications seamless, aiming to minimize upfront integration costs.

For this reason, Authtrail will deploy the following measures:
